Hallmark Holiday Movies

"You know what's good for heartbreak? Hot cocoa. Meet me behind Santa's Village."
-- (Former) Hallmark Queen, Candace Cameron Bure, in the 2017 classic, Switched for Christmas
Normally, a channel that starts playing Christmas movies 24/7 in OCTOBER would really annoy me.
But life lately has been anything but normal.
So my mom and I are now in our FIFTH year of watching Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas before Halloween even starts, and let me tell you… WE LOVE IT.
This is the exact kind of soothing programming we need! There’s always a quaint, snowy village, an insane amount of holiday décor, some kind of misunderstanding or obstacle that threatens to get in the way of romance, plus a happy ending where the main characters are simultaneously filled with the Christmas spirit AND fall in love, as evidenced by their rated G kiss in the last 2 minutes of the movie.
It’s as cozy as a cup of cocoa.
In 2020, there were 105 “Countdown to Christmas” movies made for Hallmark Channel, and we saw 103 of them. In 2021, we started with a leg up at 90 of 122 already watched and we saw every last one by the time December 25 rolled around. Last year, we started at 112 of 149 and there are another 155 “Miracles of Christmas” movies to fill our stockings over on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. In 2023, there are 42 shiny new Hallmark movies, and that’s not even counting what’s on Movies & Mysteries (or Great American Family’s wannabe lineup). I forgot to look up the number in 2024, but 2025 has 107, which I know because I have also downloaded the Hallmark Movie Checklist app…
That’s a whole lotta Christmas.
As a tribute to this new holiday tradition, I've created bingo cards. They work no matter which movie you are watching -- you can even print them! Because you’re on the Nice List, use the center square as a free spot, then mark off each phrase or event as it happens during the movie. Traditional bingo rules apply — and by all means, if you prefer your bingo with a little booze, spike your eggnog and sip while you watch.
So, break out the mistletoe, and play along!
(PS: New movies start every 2 hours, but if you’re looking for some treats, we recommend — in no particular order: Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper! (2025), ‘Twas the Date Before Christmas (2024), Holiday Touchdown: A Chief’s Love Story (2024), The Santa Summit (2023), A Biltmore Christmas (2023), A Merry Scottish Christmas (2023), Haul Out the Holly (2022), Three Wise Men & a Baby (2022), #Xmas (2022), Hanukkah on Rye (2022), An Unexpected Christmas (2021), The Christmas House (2020), On the 12th Date of Christmas (2020), Five Star Christmas (2020), Christmas in Rome (2019), Christmas at the Plaza (2019), The Mistletoe Secret (2019), Double Holiday (2019), Road to Christmas (2018), Switched for Christmas (2017), Coming Home for Christmas (2017), A Christmas Detour (2015), The Nine Lives of Christmas (2014) A Royal Christmas (2014) or The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (2008). I know they all sound the same, but they are VERY different. Sort of.)
(PPS: To keep the holiday spirit rolling all year long, the Hallmarks run a Christmas movie every Friday night during the year too. Santa is psyched!)
